Why It’s Important To Remain Grounded (Especially During Times Of High Stress)
We are all energetic beings, and our energies need to flow with ease for proper health and vitality. An indication that our energy flow is unbalanced is feeling ungrounded and "off." Why is it important for us to remain grounded?
When we are grounded we feel safe, stable, solid, and energized. We are able to think more clearly and process thoughts, information, and emotions with more ease. We feel nourished and sure-footed through this grounded connection with the Earth. The best natural way for us to get grounded is quite literally to make contact with the physical earth. Ever wonder why it feels so great to kick off your shoes and walk around barefoot on the grass or sand? That's because we are making direct contact with the Earth's energy, keeping our own energy grounded, stable, and flowing in the proper polarity. But during times when we are stuck inside (such as the current state of social distancing and containment), and we aren't able to get outside easily, it can be difficult to connect with the physical earth.
Simple, Quick Techniques You Can Use At Home To Keep Yourself Grounded:
1. Spooning To Ground Your Energy:
HOW: We recently learned a simple technique from Donna Eden as a great way that we can get grounded at home. Using the back of a stainless steel spoon rub it on the soles of your feet. (Just make sure that the spoon is stainless steel—it will indicate on the back of the spoon or handle—and that a magnet can stick to it.) This technique is best if done on bare feet, but even over socks works well. You may feel a delightful tingling sensation as your polarities are realigned.
WHY: Spooning the feet helps establish a strong connection with the metal in the haemoglobin in the blood and activates the body’s energy fields to correct the electromagnetic energy in every cell in your body. Rubbing the spoon on the soles of your feet lines up all the body’s cells in their correct polarity, allowing the flow of energy into and out of your feet.
WHEN: We do this in the morning, anytime during the day when we start to feel unfocused or centered, and right before bed as it aids in better sleep as well. Which, as we know, helps our immune system stay strong and recover.
*Bonus: You can rub the spoon up and down your spine; this can help if you are having discomfort in the spine area.
2. Root Chakra Balancing Meditation, Chanting, and High-Vibrational Music:
Our root chakra (located at the base of our spine) is the center of our gravity of life and is responsible for our sense of being grounded—which firmly influences various aspects of our life. When this chakra is blocked or weak we can begin to notice physical symptoms, feelings of fear, lack, or insecurity, and surviving instead of thriving mentality.
Our favorite root chakra balancing meditation is this free one on YouTube from Meditative Mind.
If you are unable to meditate, listen to this chanting music that can help clear and strengthen your root chakra.
Binaural beats high-vibrational music is also another great resource to listen to while you work on something else.
All of these will help raise your energetic vibration and support your immune system!
3. Affirmations to Support Grounding and Balance For Your Root Chakra:
Affirmations are powerful for positive mindset rewiring and refocusing. They can be used at any time of the day to interrupt negative thinking patterns like feelings of fear, lack, or insecurity or when you notice scattered and unfocused thinking.
A very powerful time to use affirmations is right before bed—it directs your subconscious mind to work on them while you sleep! Read, say aloud, and/or journal one or all of these affirmations right before going to sleep.
